Health savings account (HSA) fees

Below are common fees associated with Optum HSAs; your account fees may differ. If you have a health plan and an HSA through work, your employer may cover the cost of monthly fees.

Standard fees

Monthly Maintenance Fee
  • Refer to your Employer Open Enrollment materials, Optum Bank HSA Welcome Kit or log in to your account to view the fee schedule associated with your HSA for specifics under View Your Account Details on the HSA Dashboard
ATM and Outbound Transfer Fee
  • $2.50 per ATM transaction. In addition to our fee, the bank/ATM you use to withdraw funds may charge you their own fee.
  • $20.00 charge to transfer your HSA to another bank or custodian (outbound transfer of your entire HSA or a portion)

No unnecessary fees

Optum Bank has done away with unnecessary bank fees associated with your health savings account (HSA). To help you save more money, you will not be charged a:

  • Check order fee
  • Wire transfer fee
  • Return or paid non-sufficient funds (NSF) fee
  • Official check fee
  • Excess contribution fee
  • Returned deposit item fee
  • Stop payment fee
  • Research fee
  • Document copy fee
  • Paper statements fee
  • Check processing fee (or ACH fee)
